About Western Washington Tree Care
Serving You Since 2001

Dedicated to the highest standards in the industry, Western Washington Tree Service has grown remarkably since its founding by Everado Pena (Right) in 2001. What began as a local mission has evolved into a true family legacy with the addition of his son and current owner, Matthew Pena (Left). For the Penas, tree service isn’t just a trade, it’s in their blood. Over the decades, the family has significantly expanded their technical expertise and invested in a fleet of cutting-edge equipment to better serve the community. Today, they combine that deep-rooted family passion with a modern, professional approach to provide Western Washington with the safest and most advanced tree care available.

Owner / Tree Expert / Climber
Matthew Pena
From First Climb to Current Owner Matthew’s journey into the canopy started at 15 with a shaky voice and a simple question for his father, Everardo: "How do I get down?" After watching his dad glide through trees for years, he quickly learned that the view from the top is earned. Today, as the owner of WWTS, the opposite is true...it’s hard to get him out of a tree. While Matthew is a master climber, his favorite part of the job happens on the ground, getting to know the people of our community. When he finally unclips his harness, he heads home to his two energetic cats (who love the smell of the forest on his boots) or disappears into his workshop to start his next project.

Founder / Tree Expert
Everardo Pena
Everardo started this journey in 2001 to build a legacy for his family, always encouraging his children to pursue whatever their hearts desired. Over two decades later, his love for the outdoors and tree care has only grown. A true believer in the power of community, Everardo treats his crew like family, whether he’s taking them out to a local restaurant or whipping up a round of his famous homemade meals for the team.
A cool fact about Everardo: When he’s not in the canopy, he’s likely in the water, he has a crazy tradition of jumping into freezing water every winter! Look for him on your next project; he’ll be the one with the expert eye, a bold spirit, and his faithful companion, Leo the pup, right by his side.

Groundsman
Joshua Rico
Joshua is the engine of our ground operations and a cornerstone of the Western Washington Tree Service family. A lifelong friend of owner Matthew Pena, Joshua’s bond with the company dates all the way back to their elementary school days. Driven by a love for hard work and a desire to master the industry from the ground up, he joined the team to dive into the grit and technical skill that professional tree care demands.
Beyond the chainsaw and chipper, Joshua is the creative eye behind many of our project photos, blending his passion for the job with his love for photography. When he isn't on-site, he’s likely spending quality time with his family, walking through the community, or heading to the beach.
